CopperTop Media is an independent UK digital marketing agency founded by David Phillips in 2016. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), David Phillips, trading as CopperTop Media, is the data controller for personal information collected through this website and in the course of our work.

When you contact us through our enquiry form, or by email or phone, we collect the information you choose to give us. That typically includes your name, business name, email address, phone number, website, the services you're interested in, and whatever you tell us in your message.

If you contact us by email, we also receive your email address and any personal information contained in your message.

We do not buy marketing lists, and we don't collect information about you from other sources.

We use your information to respond to your enquiry, to have the conversation you asked for, and to provide the services you go on to work with us on.

Where you become a client, we keep your information so we can deliver that work, invoice properly, and keep the records we need for tax and accounting purposes.

We don't send marketing emails you haven't asked for, and we don't sell, rent or share your personal information with anyone for their own marketing.

We rely on legitimate interests to respond to enquiries you send us — you've asked us to get in touch, so replying is expected.

Where we work with you as a client, we use your information because it's necessary to perform our contract with you.

Where we keep financial records, we do so because we're legally required to as a UK business.

If we ever needed your consent for anything else, we'd ask for it clearly and you could withdraw it at any time.

Your enquiry form submissions are stored securely in our website's database and delivered to David at CopperTop Media.

Our website, email and database services are provided by trusted suppliers who process data on our behalf under contract and only on our instructions. They are not allowed to use your information for their own purposes.

We may also share information where the law requires it — for example with our accountant, or if a court or regulator validly asks for it.

Enquiries that don't turn into a conversation or a project are kept for up to 24 months, in case you come back to us later, and then deleted.

Client records are kept for up to seven years after our work together ends, to meet our accounting and legal obligations.

We keep the minimum we need for no longer than necessary.

Your information may be processed by our suppliers outside the UK. Where that happens, we make sure it's protected to a standard equivalent to UK data protection law, through contracts such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent safeguards.

This website doesn't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We keep analytics to the minimum needed to understand how the site is used, and we don't attempt to identify individuals through it.

You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, deleted or restricted, to object to how we're using it, and to receive a copy of it in a portable format where that applies.

To use any of these rights, just email David@coppertopmedia.com. We'll respond within one month.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk if you're unhappy with how we've handled your information — though we'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.

We keep this policy under review and will update it if anything about how we handle your information changes. The version on this page is always the current one.
